ReelOzInd! announces premiere screenings at ACMI Melbourne and UKP Surabaya

ReelOzInd! Australia Indonesia Short Film Competition and Festival is proud to announce premiere screenings at Melbourne’s Australian Centre for the Moving Image and Surabaya’s Petra Little Theatre at Universitas Kristen Petra.

The Australian premiere festival screening will be hosted by Australian Centre for the Moving Image at Federation Square, Melbourne on Sunday 21 August, including the announcement of the jury selection of award winners. On Monday 22 August, the Indonesian premiere festival screening will be hosted by Petra Little Theatre, Universitas Kristen Petra in Surabaya.

After the premieres, ReelOzInd! goes on the road. The touring festival has partnered with the 2nd Minikino Film Week in Bali from October 8-15, and plans are underway to host events in cities around both Australia and Indonesia from August through October. Tickets to all festival events will be free.

The shortlisted films from the competition will also be hosted at ACMI’s Australian Mediatheque, a “screen culture resource centre that provides access to a wealth of audio and video content from the collections of ACMI and the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia.” All shortlisted ReelOzInd! films will feature at the Mediatheque from August 21-28, where they can be viewed for free from 12pm to 5pm every day.

“ReelOzInd! are very excited to be able to present the competing films at ACMI – Australia’s premier centre for film, television and digital culture,” says ReelOzInd! organiser Jemma Purdey.

“And UKP’s Faculty of Communications, Faculty of Letters, and Australian Studies programs fit extremely well with our aims to connect Australians and Indonesia through storytelling.”

“The addition of a week-long exhibition of all the short-listed films at ACMI’s Mediatheque provides audiences and filmmakers with a unique opportunity to connect with each other in this exceptional space.”

All the shortlisted films will also be available to view on the ReelOzInd! website following the premiere events in Melbourne and Surabaya, where viewers will be able to vote for the People’s Choice Award.

Entries for the competition close on 18 July 2016. Follow ReelOzInd! on Twitter and Facebook for the latest updates on events, ticketing details, film news and more.
